How was Gregorio’s hand since then, Carmen? Hopefully not third-degree burned that it required a skin graft.

I seriously doubt he had is hand “in” the fire for very long. I speak from experience!

Cousin Gregorio WAS very smart? Must have been SOMETHING he wasn’t very smart about if he’s now spoken of in the past tense…

Two children are told not to touch the hot stove; one doesn’t, one does. The obedient child is spared the other’s pain, but the disobedient child comes away with a greater understanding of the nature of stoves.

Or as Mark Twain put it, “They say experience is the costliest teacher, but a man who tries to carry a cat down the street by its tail learns something he can learn in no other way.”

On a similar note to the ’toon, when I was a wee lad I remember looking at the shiny copper in the bottom of a Christmas light socket. Then I stuck in a finger to touch the copper. It was a memorable experience!

Hasn’t everyone touched something, without completely thinking about it, that was too hot to touch? I know I did, I just cannot remember what it was and if it was at home with parents or after I married my husband.
