Replay with synthetic but realistic pumpkin fill with concrete or rocks and perhaps a bit of Arsenic and Old Lace.

The ones around here won’t touch pumpkins.

I was told how much squirrels like them so I left our carved Jack O Lanterns out one year just for them and they ended up rotting under 3 feet of snow.

Guess where they were when the snow melted? Still sitting on the lawn a big, mushy, slimy mess.

I’ve come home and as I was walking in, squirrels jump out of my Jack O’ Lantern!

I had a decorative bunch of plants with leaves nuts and berries that looked so real the squirrels ran off with them. They were inside a horn ’o plenty basket along with some Indian corn. They ate the corn, too.

We have dozens of squirrels in our neighborhood, and they eat everything, especially flowers (destroyed out tulips last Spring) and garden vegetables. The dang things even will dig up potatoes and carrots. City will not allow residents to shoot them, even with a BB gun or a wrist rocket. The populace is so sensitized to any form of weapon that the police get flooded with calls. The things are super-aware of anything that seems like a trap, too. Oh, and we can’t put out poison baits, either. I mean, what if someone’s little lap yap escapes from their yard and gets into that?

I have a hollow cast cement jack-o-lantern, which I put out for a seasonal decoration this year. Last year we burned a pumpkin-flavored candle in it. So far this Fall, I have three broken-off squirrel teeth in the jack-o-lantern. And no, I’m not a bit sorry.

once they get a taste of the bird feeder, they never go back. Leaving pumpkins is a waste of time and a hassle to clean up (they turn to mush). Now I use styro pumkins that I can re-use every year.
