Okay, this one is too hard for me. Where is Scooter? What are those swirls coming down below him? An whose unfinished Martini is that?

    Don’t be fooled.

The canines of Ballard Street are mostly lushes.

At the Tiki, we carry some special brands of beer for dogs… not because they won’t drink the regular stuff…

but the dog beer is brewed with bone broth instead of well water…

    and we don’t tell them…. shhh…. it’s less alcoholic.

The Monkey, as a rule, won’t let them order hard liquor… he doesn’t trust them not to drive after they drink.

He makes an exception for the more responsible anthropomorphic ones, like his own deputies, and Fenton, our bartender….

who is, of course, very particular about his own martinis.

Other dogs, like Rusty Boy, sometimes have to resort to a bit of subterfuge to get theirs at home…

But some, like Scooter, and certainly, the well-treated Bridger, have more indulgent pet “parents.”

Scooter used to be Hunter S. Thompson’s dog and chewed the first draft of Fear and Loathing In Las Vegas to bits while high on gin and tonic and other assorted influencers. He was retired to Ballard Street when his rehab failed. The tales Scooter could tell ( if he could remember them)!

One doesn’t have to be on Route 66 to get your kicks.

Tomorrow morning, Scooter may need some hair of the human… wonder if Edmund’s toupee is still within easy snatch…

My brother’s young St. Bernard would sneak into the drunk neighbor’s back yard and finish off his beers. After Chopper moved in with me, his loving and sober aunt, that ended. Just as well. He was the sweetest dog ever, but not the brightest pup in my pack.

Scooter can’t hold his martinis well though, so he is floating in an alcoholic haze.
