I am sure you will be a delicacy, Ophelia. But for now, better put your other foot on the scale.

Are you allowing for a heavy wet towel?

For heavens sake. Ophelia has been calling herself a delicate little flower for years. The women is 5’8” tall! And hefty is putting it mildly!

If Ophie (pronounced oaf’-ee) is like most Americans, she thinks she just shed 6 oz. while leaving one foot off the scale and deducting for a wet towel.

Ophelia not only allows for the towel…. she’s pretty sure it weighs a good two pounds.

And her hair surely looks half an inch longer than when she weighed herself last Saturday…

If a foot of hair adds a pound, that’s 16 ounces for 12 inches…. half an inch must weigh…. oh goodness, who knows… let’s call it half a pound….

Besides that, the scale is getting older… so the springs are softer…. that must add two pounds to her correct weight….

And she just had breakfast 45 minutes ago… probably what? Two pounds of cereal and coffee (?) are still temporarily in her stomach?

    Let’s see… that’s two… and a half…. and twice two more…. let’s call it eight, in case she’s forgetting something…

Oh, yes…. the scale says she weighs one pound more than yesterday…. which can’t be true.

After all, she only ate three little bitty Christmas cookies…. and the almonds don’t even count because they’re food, for heaven’s sake.

So that’s nine pounds to subtract…

and that foot almost off the scale doesn’t require adjustment, because it’s touching the platform, isn’t it?

    My…. she’s losing so much weight….

She can even allow herself a scoop of French vanilla ice cream on her sour cream cherry pie,

at the Senior Ladies’ Ikebana Group Hula Tournament (S.L.I.G.H.T) next Friday at the Tiki!

Well done, Ophelia. Very well done.

She’s not my idea of a delicacy.

Ditch the wet towel and you wouldn’t need to manipulate the scale with your other foot. An odd bathtub though.. appears to be up on a ledge but kind of narrow.
