His ‘special ball’? I’m sorry, but since this is a family strip, I must refrain from commenting.

I think Eugene would rather have his special ball.

Is it named “Wilson?”

Eugene seems to have given his ball a “special spot” in his life and on the couch. Has he named his ball? “Sheldon” would be fitting.

Sigh…and he brings the $##$ thing to Church even! Rev. Fotheringham is not amused.

Eugene has all the society he needs right there.

Even I would prefer the special ball.

“Hey Eugene, wanna go to the game today?”

“Sorry, I have to get ready for the Ball tonight.”

“Eugene {purr} want to take me to a movie tonight?”

“I, er, can’t. I already have a date for the Ball tonight.”

If only he had two…

Special ball has no opinions at all.

With a ball like that Eugene does not need a social life. Heck, my balls are only half as nice and I get by just fine without a social life. Besides I have GoComics to turn to…

Mmm, no…

Although, there was a smattering of interest when he had those two, big, brass ⚙️⚙️, until it was discovered that they were more like ⭕⭕…

That ball has the pattern of the big balls used by the elephants in the circus. Eugene may never have been able to run away and join the circus, but he does have that special ball, and he can dream.

… and it’s not the one by his feet.
