He identifies with Ed Norton.

I think part of it is Norton wondering if he could fit through it. Or serve as a cork in an emergency.

So much mystery lurks beneath them. Rushing water? Bizarre smells? An alligator? Who doesn’t find them compelling.

Having fallen in a couple, Norton feels a certain kinship….

He probably got hit in the head with one as a child.

If you put your ear next to one of the little holes, you can hear the…drain.

… and ever since he got himself a surveyor’s tool it has gotten worse.

why are manhole covers round? It’s the only shape that can’t fall through the hole.

He identifies with them. He, too, is a sort of man-hole.

Thats easy. They are magic. They never fall in.

Let’s see… Geometry, Circle, Circumference, Pi, Pie, Pizza… I’ve got it!

I don’t see the obsession with manholes either but womanholes is a different story altogether! ;o]

I don’t see it either.. daft things that they are.

He just likes to play with colored chalk. :)

Well, the covers are often different designs and some of the designs are interesting.I remember seeing a collection of photographs…somewhere…
