Michael is wondering if there’s enough ink left to squirt all over Edith’s face.

I’d say it’s a failure of understanding cause and effect.

He’s reinventing tie-dye.

He might be clumsy, but he looks pressed and sharp in those heavy duty cardboard inserts.

The ideas blossom when/after they come (and he is) out of his mind.

I remember those pens

Some success though – Michael’s been working for an hour to get the ink flowing again.

That must be one of those cheap advertising pens they were giving away at the re opening of Pulleys for You several weeks ago.

Full flower? No but it is beginning to bloom or at least percolate.

I remember those pens with the liquid cartridge. Men would put them in their shirt pocket and they would get an ink stain on the pocket when the pen leaked.
