‘The freaks come out at night’. I always liked that song, or at least the tune.

I’m afraid I had a different reaction to this one, a rabid bat was recently discovered in Orange County. That’s a little too close to home.

They always seem kind of silvery, gliding through the night air. :)

Bats and rats are very old mammalian species. The oldest fossil of a bat is 57 million years ago. No echo location, but it does have claws on its wings. Rats and bats are the most numerous mammals around.
