Peppermint Patty runs along.<BR><BR> Peppermint Patty is on the telephone: "Hey, Chuck, come on over, and see what my Dad gave me for my birthday.."<BR><BR> She points: "Roses!" Charlie Brown stands behind her. He says, "Wow!"<BR><BR> Peppermint Patty adds, "And you know what he said?" They face each other.<BR><BR> "He said that I'm growing up fast, and soo I'll be a beautiful young lady, and all the boys will be calling me up so he just wanted to be the first one in my life to give me a dozen roses!"<BR><BR> Peppermint Patty stands on the doorway. She says, "He calls me 'a rare gem'" to Charlie Brown. He waves and says, "Your Dad likes you...Happy birthday.."<BR><BR> Peppermint Patty sits with her arms propped on the back of a chair. She gazes at the roses: "Suddenly, I feel very feminine!"<BR><BR>

Om my gosh, that’s sweet. I get the distinct feeling Patty’s dad is a single parent, explaining why she’s rather tomboyish, but he’s doing a great job of raising her to be a young lady, as well.

Agreed. As a kid, I always liked Linus and Snoopy best, but rereading these as an adult, Peppermint Patty is quickly becoming one of my favorite characters.
