IMHO, there’s a big difference between a TIP for good service and the shakedown that comes with the automated addition on the payout screen at the fast food/takeout/coffee shops. I may drop any change I get back in the tip jar if I don’t feel like carrying change around. I’ll reserve a healthy TIP for a sit-down dinner.
