This strip could use a romantic sub-plot… Other than Scrappy Lad getting his butt kicked in unrequited love for Moxie. How about Mr. Biceps here and Jen Erica. She might appreciate some attention.

Bare knuckle fighting is actually safer. Without the gloves fighters don’t aim for their opponent’s head, mostly body shots. Not nearly as many concussions, so bare knuckle fighters suffered less brain damage.

Actually Tyr would be familar with gloves in boxing. After all, he would have been around during the Roman empire and come into contact with the Romans. Just not gloves that soft. For Tyr the boxing glove would have been the cestus, which would inflict tons more damage than the modern glove.
