Years ago, I saw a cool old black and white show (looked late 50s, early 60s) about the first manned moon orbit. Unbeknownst to the astronauts, this was a mock-up before the real thing; everything was treated as totally real, including (back then) no radio contact for a large portion of the trip. Imagine the astronauts’ state of mind when, believing they were really in space, they circled the dark side of the moon… only to see an artificial construct held up by 2×4s! This was a mistake by the “ground crew” running the simulation. The astronauts freaked out and rightly so. Does anyone know what show this was? I’m not sure if it was Twilight Zone… I don’t remember a “submitted for your approval”.
