Financial institutions are hardly the only businesses that have taken to using anti-service customer service these days. I’m witnessing a growing number of companies (Zipcar being a personal example) that surround themselves with a firewall intentionally meant to keep customers at bay and shut down any two-way communication. The specific reasons behind it can vary, but usually they boil down to a business model that depends for its survival on technology rather than humans to run the operations.

YIKES! That happened to me once, after which I moved over to my Dad’s small union-owned credit union; been there over 40 years ♥
