Gracie, that car is his dream. He’s spending his time fixing it up and learning how to fix it up and working hard to earn money so he can fix it up. When it’s done, he’ll have the joy of knowing he did it all (with his father’s help) and he can enjoy driving the car and bask in knowing he “looks cool.” That will bring him happiness now and in the coming years when he looks back fondly on that vintage car.
