When I was learning First Aid we called it CCCM: closed-chest cardiac massage. CPR is much easier to say when you;re in a hurry.

My granddaughter needed CPR twice at home before she was two. She was a preemie and responded well. Infant and toddler CPR is a whole other ballgame. Our EMT course taught it on a mini-Annie. So I’m 2 for 3 lifetime. The first had congestive heart failure and was un-savable.

I took a full cpr course when I was in college an d it included the Heimlich maneuver. One night that summer I was watching tv in my room when my mother started screaming my name so I went out to see what she wanted and found my father standing in the middle of the dining room choking. Just like they taught us I got him to calm down and told him what I was going to do, then I got behind him and used the Heimlich maneuver just like I was taught. I didn’t not I e any real difference, but my dad was breathing normally so I ended up going back to my tv show. Now my dad wasn’t the kind of person to tell you directly when you did a good job,but years later I found out that for months after the event he was telling everyone about how I saved his life that night.
