When Jan retired from doing dailies a few years ago, they were offered again on GoComics, starting from their beginning in 1996, as “Classic Stone Soup”… apparently we’re up to mid 2000 now.
You can subscribe to her new, Sunday-only, strips as a separate comic… it’s just called “Stone Soup.”
The Sundays here in “Classic Stone Soup” are reruns like the dailies.
they have the classic peanuts running in Go Comics. These are the first few years before Woodstock, Peppermint Patty and so on. Before Snoopy having all the cool stuff, before Lucy being the fussbudget, before Charlie Brown being the brunt of every joke and so on. Prior to the mid 60’s Charlie Brown was basically one of the gang and just about everyone got equal billing. It was a much better strip.

Who died?

It must be a reference to Snoopy. Is today a significant day for the Peanuts comic strip?

It’s not that hard. Do something original.

Just to be clear… today’s strip isn’t just “referring” to that day… it was first published back then.
The date is written along the right-hand edge of the first panel… May 27th… along with “Thanks, Sparky!”
and the year is printed in the white space between panels 2 and 3…. ©2000.

Our doberman would sit on top of her doghouse like Snoopy and survey her domain like Snoopy imagining himself to be a mountain lion

Okay, the dog is trying to do Snoopy, but who is the kid trying to do?

Yes today’s strip reminds me of Snoopy.
