Had a neighbor in Texas once who hailed from Boston. She’d been in Texas for 25 years but the accent was thick as ever. She got the strangest look in a Hallmark shop when she asked about cods.

I’m an Aussie and I think it strange that people in Flodda need to look in a Mere to comb their hair straight.

Okay, nitpicking here. . .Has Roz gone up in the world: wasn’t her sign on the ground at the foot of her establishment in a cartoon strip sometime last week?

You would think that after decades of television even Bostonians would have learned how to enunciate properly.

I am from Ohio and when I lived in Texas, they said I had an accent. I found that quite strange at first. Then I realized that we all technically have an accent. It seems strange, I understand, but it’s true. I mean, I think the Ohio one is quite boring, but to someone with a different accent, they like it. I love all accents but mine. ; )

When I moved to Boston back in the dark ages, my coworkers sang a then popular song as “Splish splash, I was taking a bah-th”. Never understood why they didn’t also say “splahsh” and at least make it rhyme!

This is so great, because I’m in Australia right now where they sound like they’re from Boston. When I say “Marks Park” as a NYer might (I was threatened as a child to pronounce my "r"s by my NY uncle) they had no idea what I was saying. But when I said “Mahks Pahk” there was no problem.

LOL… he’d have called her “RAZZ” if his accent was THAT thick. I got a Navy buddy, Mark, a Bean-Towner with that wicked awesome accent… and all of his friends greet him by yelling “MAAAHK!!”
