Those squirrels might not be smart, but at least they’re cute!

The squirrel might be dumb, but our Rover is brilliant.

Neighbor dog, a Chihuahua, once chased a chipmunk up my gutter downspout. Dog destroyed the downspout trying to get him. I think the chipmunk died of heart failure.

RED & ROVERLet Rover think that a squirrel would be that slow – love and hugs – to our dearest friends

If the dogs spook a squirrel and it runs across the street and gets hit by a car, does it count for the dogs’ kill ratio?

In over 60 years of watching dogs chase squirrels, I don’t think I’ve ever actually seen one catch it.

My golden loved to watch the squirrels under and on the bird feeder in the back yard. They weren’t afraid of her as she sat on the porch. If she felt Mom watching her, she’d pretend to chase them away from the bird seed, and the squirrels would pretend to be terrified. Really funny. Once, she almost caught one and did a hard tumble to avoid running over him.

Hmmmm…Rover has never said anything mean to Red so I guess we’ll let that last thought/comment stand as is?

The other night an opposum made it past our dog, to be found at daybreak, clinging to our verandah post!
