Retailers are always trying to beat their competitors at launching their holiday sales. It’s gotten so bad that my local retailers are gearing up for Christmas 2020.

Actually for once I agree with Gladys. Halloween candy should be bought now. That way you can have your fill of it before the little ghouls and goblins come to call.;-D

As MAD Magazine put it in their classic article “43 Man Squamish”, loss of half the Flutney for rushing the season, Gladys! :-P

It’s a real timing problem.. you need to get there just as the discount sales start.. and for what it is worth.. Best Buy was playing “Good King Wenceslas” music a couple of days ago.

I work at The Home Depot. We have Christmas items on display, but we still have Halloween stuff available.

This cartoon would be funny if it weren’t true. Stores are already putting up Christmas trees and rows of Christmas decorations. Can’t we get over one holiday season before we start the next? I remember when Christmas items didn’t go up until Thanksgiving weekend.

One price/goodness tradeoff I heard is go early to get the ‘best’ stuff at a high price, or wait for the prices to come down, and all that is left is candy corn and boxes of raisins. . . .

We used to buy boxes of cookies, wrapped 2 to a package. We were popular with the kids. Then we moved to an apartment, and didn’t buy anything. There are a lot of kids living here, but I suspect they hold an event in the clubhouse for them.
