One of my childhood homes (1951-1961) was built on a landfill. Don’t know whether private or community. Turning the soil in our vegetable and flower beds could turn into a treasure hunt.
I know that some dogs dig, but none of mine ever did. However, I now seem to have a neighborhood skunk digging up my back yard looking for grubs. Some of my other neighbors have actually seen the skunk, though I believe that they do their digging at night. They don’t dig as deeply, but the damage is still pretty bad.
