This cartoon was WAY AHEAD of its time, in terms of Miss Othmar getting fired, in spite of having tenure—I have heard, that these days, if teachers act lousy, say, in any way, like by being OVERLY ROUGH on a student, etc., in spite of having tenure, these days, they STILL CAN get fired—it seems I have heard, that these days, they are beginning to draw the line, at allowing teachers to keep their jobs, if the teachers go to such dire extremes, in being lousy or mean, say, even if they have tenure. They should draw such lines, there, at allowing teachers to keep their jobs, even if they have tenure. Anyway, makes you wonder, if Miss Othmar had been like this, to any of the other students(not Linus, of course, but any of the other kids.)and if so, that would have been why she was fired, in spite of having tenure, even some 45 years ago.

Poor Miss Othmar. I can’t help but wonder though what the conditions were that lead to the strike.
