Can’t even really fault her for this one. Charlie Brown walked in with eyes wide open. Some people really do want to be fooled, I guess.

To say NOTHING of all the OTHER TIMES, when Lucy would pull Charlie Brown’s leg on April 1, with a friendly yet hurtful joke, be it about the little red haired girl, telling Charlie Brown he was a terrific ball player—whatever it was, Charlie Brown was ALWAYS too blind to realize that it was April 1, and thus, what Lucy was telling him might NOT be true.

I like Lucy’s expressions in the bottom row. It’s clear she’s thinking, “Charlie Brown is such a nitwit that this isn’t even fun anymore.”

Like Lucy said years ago: “You’re no fun to beat Charlie Brown. Beating you is like beating nothing.” So why does she even bother?

I love the way Lucy yells “APRIL FOOL!” at Charlie Brown like that.

Even without warning, Charlie Brown should have seen that coming. Lucy has been playing malicious pranks on him since the first year she appeared.

You really have to wonder why Schulz went out of his way to make CB so gullible and, let’s face it, stark raving stupid sometimes.
