Mindless panic is an appropriate response to imminent destruction.

This is a good philosophy. I wish I could have a little bit of Lucy’s conviction…

Living as though today is your last day is a pretty stupid philosophy, really. I mean, quitting your job, spending/giving away all your money and possessions, eating excessive amounts of food, and many more things that would provide instant gratification would absolutely ruin you in the long run, but, if today was your last day, then you wouldn’t care because the ‘long run’ doesn’t exist. One should always keep the future in mind.

Ah, this was used in the 1999 version of You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown! “My New Philosophy”, sung by Sally and Schroeder, is my favorite song from that play, not least because Sally was played by Kristin Chenoweth.

Did Lucy really believe that, or was she just messing with him? The latter I’m sure, considering how serious she usually takes him.
