Linus kneels in front of the TV, switching channels.<BR><BR> Lucy walks up behind Linus, now seated on a cushion. She asks, "What are you watching?"<BR><BR> He turns to her and says, "'Citizen Kane'"<BR><BR> They both watch. Lucy announces, "I've seen it about ten times."<BR><BR> "This is the first time I've ever seen it..." says Linus.<BR><BR> "'Rosebud' was his sled!" Lucy declares as she walks away.<BR><BR> "AAUGH!!" Linus falls on the floor and pounds his fists in frustration.<BR><BR>

Schulz must have spoiled this ending 4 or 5 times over the years. I wonder why?

Reading this strip in a collection was the first I ever heard of Citizen Kane…and its ending.

This is on a par with the New Year’s Eve I was at a friend’s house party and some of us were chilling in the living room with the Sci-Fi Channel’s (as it was called then) Twilight Zone marathon. “Eye Of The Beholder” was on, and my friend Rick had never seen it. I was all set to see his reaction to the ending…then, minutes before the big reveal, Rick’s Uncle Rudy, who’d had a few by then, wandered in and blurted out, “Oh, I know this one. She’s [SPOILER] and everyone else is [SPOILER]!”

I think Schulz got a little flak over blowing the ending for anyone who hadn’t seen it. (Spoiler alert? What’s that?)
