Marcie says, "Sir, please come down, and let's go to school . . ."<BR><BR> Marcie continues, "If we hurry, we can still make it to second period . . ."<BR><BR> Peppermint Patty says, "I hate second period! Besides, I've already told you I'm going to sit here with Snoopy for the rest of my life!"<BR><BR> Peppermint Patty pets Snoopy on the nose and says, "We're just going to sit here and beep each other on the nose . . . Beep!!" Snoopy thinks, "Thrillsville '74!"<BR><BR>

Why don’t you just head off to school yourself, Marcie? If Peppermint Patty wants to drop out, because she feels school is not for her, that’s her problem! How IRONIC, that Marcie and Peppermint Patty are friends in the least, considering they REALLY ARE EXACT OPPOSITES, in each and every way—Marcie is gifted academically, and PP is not, and vice versa, when it comes to sports. Marcie even came right out and told PP that she HATES baseball, the previous summer(1973).

I don’t understand Snoopy’s comment. Is that a 70s slang? “Thrillsville”.

Now today 50 years later, naturally Snoopy would say either “Thrillsville ‘24” or “Thrillsville 2024!” This strip is on the page of this weekend of this year’s Peanuts’ desk calendar, Saturday and Sunday, 9/10, 2024. It’s Sunday 3/10/2024 as I post my comment.
