I know who Conners, Ashe, and Borg are, but not sure about Okker.

Jimmy Connors and Arthur Ashe had won Wimbledon in 1974 and 1975, Bjorn Borg was the hot star of tennis when this strip was written, and did go on to win Wimbledon 1976 – and 1977, 1978, 1979 and 1980! Tom Okker was never anywhere near that level (though he was apparently world number 3 for a while in 1974), so it’s weird to see his name in this one…
