Snoopy sits on the doghouse. Charlie Brown says, "Spike just left." Snoopy's ears stand up and he thinks, "Spike left?"<BR><BR> Charlie Brown continues, "We couldn't find a home for him around here so he decided to hitchhike back to Needles . . ."<BR><BR> Charlie Brown walks away and says, "I loaned him a few things to make the trip easier . . ."<BR><BR> Spike stands with his belongings and watches tv. A voice on the tv says, "Ah, Colonel Hogan!"<BR><BR>

I would have thought Peppermint Patty would take him since she’s borrowed Snoopy a couple of times, plus, perhaps he could play shortstop.

I wonder if the “Hogan’s Heroes” reference was some kind of tribute to Bob Crane? He died right at a month before this strip ran.
