Marcie and Peppermint Patty stand in front of a desk. Peppermint Patty says, "We can't visit Chuck because we're too young? Rats!"<BR><BR> Peppermint Patty continues, "Just for that we'll go across the street and sit on a park bench and stare up at his room!"<BR><BR> Marcie and Peppermint Patty walk downstairs. Peppermint Patty says, "It's a well-known fact, Marcie, that a patient will recover faster if he knows a friend is staring up at his room . . ."<BR><BR> Peppermint Patty and Marcie sit on a bench. Marcie says, "You should have been a doctor, sir."<BR><BR>

Be logical.The hospital did make every effort to contact his parents. I’m sure they were present when he was admitted (explaining why Sally was free to take over his room). But of course the hospital would not turn him away when he arrived with an emergency! That could have had serious consquences.On the other hand, they are not about to let two little kids wander around the hospital without an adult escort, for their safety as much as anything.

I know many hospitals have, (or used to have), a policy against children under a certain age, usually twelve, going to the visiting parts, even if to visit a sick or dying relative in the hospital.

In Ramona Forever, when Roberta was born, Ramona wanted to visit her, but it was “No children under twelve in the maternity ward.” But that seems a little unfair since there are babies in there
