Because a lot of people like the rush of energy that being scared gives you. It’s the same reason people ride on roller coasters.

That’s hard to package, at least as something fake. There are certain YouTube videos that most people claim give them nightmares, yet I sometimes watch them when I’m trying to sleep. Maybe it’s actually the fakeness that diffuses that, or I just don’t horrify easily.

You mean like reading a newspaper, or watching the evening news?

And Phoebe really has a case of “3rd Panel Shadow” today!

Yeah, like being denied the option to read physical comics, ever!

Oh, just go on a roller coaster. That’s why they exist.

Has Marigold forgotten Halloween? ( Or nightmare night?)

REAL fear is when a politician / party you hate gets elected again! :D

Do you know who the POTUS is? Also, our house is on fire, and we absolutely lack any urgency to put out the fire. https://www.theverge.com/2016/5/5/11592622/this-is-fine-meme-comic

I can see Marigold dressed up as a hellhound for halloween and scaring Phoebe making her think she is really riding a hellhound.

And thus pass your halloween night as Fluttershy pass the nights of Nightmare.

You want to lie awake at night paralyzed in terror? Grow up, get a job, buy a house, and wonder what you’re doing with your life. That’ll scare the life out of you.

That makes so much sense! I’ve never understood why in the world people would WANT to feel terror

I don’t bother with horror movies, roller coasters, etc. If I want to be scared, I’ll drive on the interstate during rush hour.

This kind of brokenness explains why Stephen King will never go broke.

So humans want PTSD. What I wouldn’t give to not have it

I recently realized a difference between “terror” and “horror” as commonly applied. Terror is a reaction to what might happen. Horror is a reaction to what has already happened.

The difference between being startled and feeling what Phoebe called “real fear” is one of degree only, in amount as well as in how long it lasts.

Your amygdalas decide how much fear you will have and how much it influences the rest of your brain.
