They didn’t have word processor machines, in 1979, or at any rate, even if they had been invented, I’m sure they were at least not being used with nearly as much consistency, as today.
In 1979 your options for word processing would come up to thousands of dollars. A CP/M system that could run WordStar and a printer plus the software could cost around $2000 or so. An Apple II Plus cost $1200 back in 1979 and word processing software and a printer would bring costs up to more than $2000 as well. Dedicated word processing hardware like the Wang 1200 and IBM’s offerings were in more or less the same price range.
