Sally sits on the floor next to a reading lamp, shifting through paper. She looks up with a grimace and exclaims,"I can't do it!"<BR><BR> She walks over to Charlie Brown, who is sitting on a bean bag watching t.v. She asks,"Hey, big brother, how about helping me with my homework?" He replies,"You mean do it for you, don't you?"<BR><BR> She leans over ?he bean bag and exclaims,"When Leo Tolstoy was writing 'War and Peace', his wife, Sonya, copied it for him seven times!"<BR><BR> She follows him down the hallway saying,"And she did it by candlelight! And with a dip pen!"<BR><BR> They stop in the kitchen next to fridge and she continues,"And sometimes she had to use a magnifying glass to make out what he had written...."<BR><BR> She continues,"And she had to do it after their child had been put to bed and the servants had gone up to their garrets and it was quiet in the house."<BR><BR> He sat at the table next to her and says with a grimace,"Okay, I'll help you with your homework." Sally asks,"Wore you down, didn't I?'<BR><BR>

Ahem. Everything after dark then was done by candlelight and all writing was with a “dip” pen. So, htose weren’t particular hardships. And she had servants, so seems like she had a fair amount of free time to devote to her copy work. What else was she going to do?
