    In Dutch they are called sinasappels, which seems to work out to Chinese apples. That makes orange juice sinasappelsap, which I think is a wonderful word.

    Actually, the fruit was originally called a norange. After many years of people saying a norange, many people thought they were saying an orange. The n, over time, migrated from the word norange (the name of the fruit) to the a (indefinite article).

    An orange was not named after the color nor was the color named after the fruit.
