I had a sister with 3 closets. One was pre-pregnancy clothes, one was pregnancy, one was post-pregnancy. I only understood it when I got pregnant. If you were even smarter you would plan to be pregnant during the winter months when you could live in jumpers and overalls with loose sweaters underneath.
Real “maternity clothes” are pretty much a thing of the past. There used to be whole areas in clothing stores for just the thing to hide that “embarrassing” belly. I made most of my maternity clothes in the early 70’s. Maternity clothes were passed around a lot to share when friends turns came up. I did stretch out one of my favorite winter coats on my first time around. It zipped up, and always had a permanent bump in the front after that one winter. I wore it anyways, but was forever smoothing down that front!
When in the US Air Force I was stationed at Keesler AFB, Biloxi Mississippi at the base hospital. It snowed several inches. Being a boy from deep south Texas I had never seen it before so some of my northern buddies showed me how to build a snowman. After a while and a few beers we decided it needed clothes. We raided the hospital laundry and procured a nurse’s uniform and dressed it up. We did return it after the thaw somewhat worse for wear.

Such disrespect for one’s parents and disregard for someone else’s clothes. Sad that this seems to be considered okay today.

once it a while I wish Ellie would laugh and join in on the joke instead of being hurt about it.

This is what happens when you raise children without teaching them respect for their parents.

Okay, credit where credit is due, the kids did a double funny. The snowman is imaginative and adorable and Mom gets a ribbing.

I made a snowman once and put one of my wife’s bra on it – she got really mad – no sense of humour
