The superintendent of our school district had administrative staff “tag” the school sidewalks with inspirational chalk art messages before the first day of school. It was supposed to be a surprise, so my team didn’t think to check in with the school office before starting. A school admin really freaked out about it. They said tagging was a gang thing and didn’t think we should be doing it. Maybe I’m mistaken, but inspirational Dr. Seuss and Maya Angelou quotes just don’t strike me as gang activity.
As a little kid in South Philly, my dad went around to the neighbors and asked permission for the kids on the block to soap their cars. That Saturday, we all helped to wash all the cars we soaped on Mischief night.

If you can do anything, why don’t you wash your car?
