I find that your choice of books is often too boring for me to read. (Ditto in the opposite direction). And then, too, there’s the idea that talking about what I just read is more fun than reading something else: Clearly not even often true, though I do sometimes bring up something an author said that impressed me.
I bought “Elmer Gantry” years ago. I could tell from the spine that it had never been read all the way through. I tried to read it, but there are no heroes, only victims and baddies. It is still on the floor by my chair; I occasionally try to read it but I never get very far.
