Assuming Earl and Opal are 80 years old, the bulb will last until they’re 123.

It says it will last 43 years. My experience with these LED bulbs (from China, of course) is that they last about 12 months.

Unfortunately, Earl, “43 years” in lightbulb makers years amounts to roughly 10 months in human beings years…

can imagine a middle-aged Nelson standing around and saying “You know my grandpa put in that bulb in 43 years ago and it’s still working!”

Think about it as planting a fruit tree Opal, it will be there for the benefit of the generations to come.

In 43 years, that bulb and the six subsequent generations of lightbulb technology will all have been declared illegal and taken off the market.

Now I’m confused, I thought a light year is about 6 trillion miles.

They never last as long as they claim. Not around here.

I have yet to have any of these Long life bulds last as long as they claim. I have already replaced 5 of the 8 10 year LED bulds I have installed. They have made it a whopping 3 years. the circuit boards that convert the AC to DC are often the point of failure.

That’s what they said about fluorescent lamp bulbs and half of mine quit, some with a bang. So far, so good with LEDs, but it’s a little suspicious how they get 100 watts of light from 10 watts of electricity.

My dad broke his neck doing exactly what Earl is doing in the first frame, at about Earl’s age.Ironically he used a stool instead of the ladder, because my grandmother told him he was too old to use a ladder. He was lucky as hell, because he made a full recovery.

I’m 83 and I often wonder if things I buy will last longer than me or if I’ll expire before my drivers driver’s license.

Supposed to last about 43 years? Can’t they commit to months and days?

Old day’s bulbs were cheap, relable and lasted for long… Our modern saving energy bulbs are 10 times more expensive and, due to planned obsolescence, their life is 90% shorter.

I don’t know where you got those numbers, but I don’t believe them. For example, here’s a price from Lowes (below). Even if the bulbs don’t last more than 6 years, it’s still a bargain.

GE Basic 60-Watt EQ A19 Soft White LED Light Bulb (8-Pack) $9.98 – Rated to last 6 years based on 3 hours per day use
