We have a little dialogue update for 2019. The first panel line in 1990 said, “I just went into your room to get a tape, Mike” meaning a cassette tape.

If you don’t like it,either clean it up or stay out of his room.

When he gets obsessive about clean, he probably has girls in mind.

I remember reading a text book in school about archeology and I still remember the verbiage: “Fortunately for science, man is a messy animal”.

My kids would “clean up” their rooms then I’d go in with a broom and sweep out the toys from under the beds where they’d shoved them. They’re all in their fifties now and still laugh about it.

We all know that his mama wouldn’t let his room get that dirty.

Sadly the adults let him do that. They are not parents, they don’t deserve that title.

I think at this point Michael’s parents are justified in spraying his bedroom with a garden hose.

Not many girls much less other people would want such a dirty disgusting arrogant lout as he around. Not that he cares anymore than his “buds” who are the same way.

As a sister you want to drive Michael up a wall, and get back at him for taking up the couch here’s what you do. First go find mom and ask were the cleaning supplies are because you want to surprise Michael by cleaning his room. If mom asks why it’s because you can smell it through the wall, or you want to be nice the choice is yours. Cleaning his room will give you a chance to hide his favorite things, (just put were they belong) snoop through his things (you had to read that note from Martha to see if it was important or not), and don’t for when doing laundry leave a red sock in with Michaels underwear. Yes this could take all day, but trust me it’s worth it, mom already knows.

Not all boys are like that of course. My husband and my ex are very tidy and even taught me a few good habits. And then there are girls who have very messy rooms. Not a gender specific analogy at all.

Boys rooms and girls rooms can be equally messy. The real difference is that teenage boys stink. Their stuff stinks and their bodies stink. It’s a different smell from adult sweat, and very hard to get rid of once it has settled in.
