The big question is… who DIDN’T get bonked? Who’s the ninth player? It’s been a very long time since we saw a full lineup of the baseball team. Shermy was the designated hitter the last we heard from him, so probably either Patty or Frieda…

So the full Peanuts baseball team as of 1983 is: 1. Charlie Brown (pitcher), 2. Schroeder (catcher), 3. Snoopy (shortstop), 4. Linus (second baseman), 5. 5, 6. Pig-Pen, 7. Lucy (right field), 8. Patty/Frieda (center field), 9. Violet (left field). We know that the three girls are are in the outfield, and we know that Linus plays second base (March 31, 1961). Since there are no other possible positions, 5 and Pig Pen must be playing as first and third basemen. Only Patty/Frieda is not shown in this strip. Shermy was known to play 1st base in the past, but presumably he’s not doing that today.

This is the only time I’ve seen the first row in a Sunday strip not have have two panels!! Is nothing sacred?
