Deanna: Come on, Jack. It's raining. You're looking for something to do. Read a book. Here's just the book. It was one of my favorites when I was your age. It's about this young pioneer girl's life in the late 1800s. Jack: A girl book? If I'm going to read about a girl, it's going to be Abby Wambach or Mia Hamm. Deanna: Your son needs to broaden his literary interests. Gary: Yeah, he left out Maria Sharapova.

I’m guessing that’s one of the “Little House on the Prairie” books by Laura Ingalls Wilder.

Clearly he is not old enough to be interested in girls, yet. The two he named were good soccer players, but Maria Sharapova was not just a good tennis player, but gorgeous good looking, too. Let me add, before I get in trouble, that Mia and Abby were worth looking at, too.

Look Deena, Jack ain’t gonna read about stuff like that. If he’s going to read about a girl, he’s going to read about a tough girl, not a wimpy girl like the ones in your books.

Just give him one of Ian Flemings’s “Masterpieces”.
