Jack: Our team is lame-o this year. Mondo: It just seems that way because we're playing better teams. We did so well last season, the league moved us up to the A bracket. At midseason they'll take a look at our record and move us down to a bracket with teams we can compete with. Jack: Next stop, Z bracket.

I grew up in a rural area. Our little league baseball team had to travel to other small towns to play away games, and there was only one set of them, so there could be quite a difference from one team to the next. One game you might feel overpowered and embarrassed, next game you might almost feel sorry for the other guys. It usually wasn’t that bad, though, since most of the towns were about the same small size.

Only Mondo can stay positive and hopeful when he’s on a lousy underdog team. Jack on the other hand, just sees his cheerful optimism as false hope.
