Man: I don't feel guilty about driving a big SUV. Hey, if you really wanted to cut back on oil use, you'd ban NASCAR. Roads around NASCAR tracked are backed up for hours with 200,000 people, car engines running, waiting to get into a parking lot, so they can go watch guys in jumpsuit billboard's burn high-octane gas for hours. And those NASCAR drivers have million-dollar buses in the track infield with engines running 24-7 for days. Man 2: Ban NASCAR? Man: Maybe you don't feel that way. Man 2: A million years from now, when we humans are long gone, and all that's left on the planet are a bunch of roaches - those bugs are gonna be watching NASCAR. That's how I feel.

I loved watching it when the cars they raced actually resembled cars you or I could buy, now they are just a standard shaped blob with stickers saying what kind of car it’s supposed to look like.

The road courses like Sonoma and Watkins Glenn are somewhat interesting but just driving around an oval is a bit bland. However, I like the strategy and the racing under the lights involved in endurances races like Daytona, Sebring and LeMans. Used to follow Indy and F1 racing but not so much anymore.

I never thought I’d see that that someone would tell Jerry off for his pompous and stuffy attitude. I’ve officially gained new respect for NASCAR.

I would be for banning all auto racing… but I may be in the minority there.

During the oil crisis in 1973, Bill France testified in Congress about the very subject. He so eloquently pointed out that one professional sport team burned more oil per flight for away games then NASCAR did all year and no one says anything about them, then finished with saying, but we’ll cut our races by 10% to make y’all feel better. But profesional sports did nothing. That should quiet all you NASCAR critics about that. Maybe they should ride bikes to away games.
