The world is NOT available on your phone. Take a hike, ride a bike, actually talk to a friend, face to face. Go dancing or sit by the window and watch the weather. That other stuff is addictive, but it’s not really important.
… He says, sitting in front of a screen while typing…
I’m much more content being in the world but ignoring most news channels and social media. Put another way: I don’t want to wake up listening to people who start their day asking “that stupid thing did (fill in the blank) do today?”
Much better starting my day here! With all of you.
There’s a damn good reason we built our casa de campo out in the country! No internet, no television or radio, no phone ( except for an emergency), no noisy neighbors, no traffic, just blessed peace and quiet with the only noise and news delivered by nature.
Even a couple of days there recharges the batteries and improves mental health. “Sometimes it’s best to avoid the world.”
My phone is just a tool an electronic device that I control. My tools do not control me. I do follow the news but not incessantly. I like to know what’s going on in the outside world but my little world has three young active boys and an unhealthy wife. I’m too busy to spend a lot of time on stuff I can’t affect that has only a minor effect on me and my family.
Lately, my att.com home page was sold to yahoo.com and it’s such a pleasure to turn my computer on each AM to be greeted with the news that some Hollywood ninny bared her boobs, or that there’s 10 things I should know about (whatever) and a whole range of ‘click-bait’ that will keep me up to date and down to earth with Today’s Teen-Agers with once in a while headlines about shootings and forest fires, along with the obligatory Trump Tumblings… (huge eye-roll)

When my wife and I used to do week-long road trips, we listened to CD’s all day until 4PM local time, when we listened to NPR for news.
