Up in New Hampshire there’s a town that has decided to replace it’s Christmas wreaths on lamp posts with some other less “Religious” decoration. When did wreaths become religious? Are they not a Nordic winter decoration? Just because it’s the “Christmas” season makes everything about it religious? People blinded by efforts to be perfectly PC but fail to understand Christmas, like so many other traditions, is a blend of many traditions and cultures. As I recall, what we now call Christmas was originally a Pagan winter solstice and harvest festival. I don’t remember Santa Claus, reindeer, wreaths, decorated trees, rampant spending (what would Jesus say about that), overeating, elves, carols, etc, in the bible. I do recall the bible saying Christ was born in the Springtime. The Christians simply added their stuff to the mix. Guess I’m saying at least be honest in your self-righteousness.
The word “racist” is the ultimate shutdown word. Blurting the word “racist” stops the conversation regardless of the number of people present or the actual subject of the conversation. No one has the courage to say “Now listen here, my good man, the speaker neither stated nor implied anything that was racist. Your interjection reveals to all that you are a twit.”
Oddly enough the right to chose what ever school, job, or career path we want often means we end up segregated with like minded people and we are all right back where we started, but voluntarily.

Today’s strip seems more timely now than it was in 1993.

And just 25 years later, the same artist falls for the political correctness he was justly fighting at the time.
