I’ve always thought that was super weird when I’ve seen it on tv shows. Even on Dateline when they go to the scene of the murder but new people live there and here they go filming in someone’s home. That would be super awkward for me on both sides (wanting to see a home I used to live in or being the person living in someone’s home who wants to take a tour).

The cause of those things looking smaller as we age is that our heads grow and our eyes move further apart. I saw a 3D art film 25 years ago that showed this effect.

Three buildings exist that I grew up in. Two were designed by my dad, an architect. I confess I’d like to go back and see them. But I’d be inclined to share some of the adventures I had, without commenting on the present state of the places.

I actually did this once. The house did seem smaller.

Urban renewal and the ghetto got mine.

Hmm…I wonder if kids who grew up homeless, would wish to visit and reminisce about the spots they lived on the streets. “Oh, under the bridge, where I lived looks so small now, sniff”.

We have been on both sides of this. My parents asked if we could visit the house my dad grew up in once, and the owners graciously agreed. We have also had one of the people who grew up in our current house ask to come look around, which we found rather sweet.

How can he see anything? He has no eyes…

Who hasn’t wanted to do this…?
