Actually puts me in mind of the days when my favorite record/etc. stores were of the non-chain variety and set up in converted houses. Variety practically out the wazoo, and at least one overstuffed tabby cat on the premises. Special orders were no problem; the more obscure the selection the more improved your stature in the eyes of the store owners. The staff reading everything from Hesse to Vaughn Bode comics, with a map of Middle Earth adorning the wall. Lord, I miss those places.
When I worked in an office supply store fifteen years ago, I always wanted to ask people if they were interested in our fine selection of slide-rules whenever they asked if we had typewriter ribbon. (Which we did.)
Today, I got a package that I had ordered from Japan. My name and address was on a piece of carbon paper! I don’t know when the last time it was I saw anything on carbon paper. I know Japan is a country steeped in tradition, but I thought they were also a culture steeped in technology.

Shouldn’t they be wearing watches, too?
