How does that happen?

I think Patty’s winning the contest was nothing but pure SARCASM—her teacher’s PRECISE way of making fun of Patty for constantly being so lazy—fallling asleep in class and barely passing her tests and courses(D minuses, of course.) Of course, her winning the contest may have even been a result of her getting SO MANY D minuses, it was like,“This time, she really did it!” Either way, sarcasm on her teacher’s and the judges’ parts, would have added up, in my opinion.(and of course, that’s where the PUNCH LINE, of the cartoon, would come in—getting a lousy grade on a homework assignment, and yet winning first prize for it.)
