Peppermint Patty stands in front of the mirror as the mirror says,"Don't ask!"<BR><BR> She leans against one side of a tree as Charlie Brown leans on the other side in the field.<BR><BR> She asks,"Do you think I'm beautiful, Chuck?" He replies,"Absolutely! You have an inner beauty that is...."<BR><BR> She turns her head and exclaims,"Not inner beauty, Chuck! I'm not talking about inner beauty...I'm talking about outer beauty!"<BR><BR> She asks,"Do you think I'm beautiful, Chuck?" He replies,"I've always thought you had a cute way about you...you know, your expressions, your..."<BR><BR> She sits up and looks at him. She asks,"Did I ask you if I'm cute, Chuck? I don't think I did...I asked you do you think I'm beautiful?"<BR><BR> He walks off saying,"I just remembered...there's some golf on t.v. right now!"<BR><BR> She shouts after him,"My nose reminded you of a golf ball, huh, Chuck? Was that it, Chuck?!"<BR><BR> She slumps against the tree and concludes,"Another 'D Minus'"<BR><BR>

Maybe he doesn’t think you’re classically beuatiful, Patty, but he had very nice things to say about you nonetheless. You’re doomed to disappointment unless you drop your unrealistic expectations and really listen to others.

Lets put it this way: a mature person would not have walked away. Charlie is not mature. A mature person would have answered diplomatically. Again, not Charlie. Let him be immature and let Patty be insecure. This comic strip is about those years. Let it be.
