Reading books is not inherently better than watching TV. Content matters.

I have yet to see the Captain Underpants movie. We let our Netflix account lapse during our transition (but there are other ways).

Reading a book is better, especially for preteens. You can’t imagine anything outside your frame of reference, so the scary scenes are not too scary. The movie can be pretty intense, even for grownups.

They need to investigate the works of David Weber and Eric Flint. Both the ’Honor Harrington" series and the “1632” series are entertaining and compelling at least from a male point of view.

I read all the Harry Potter books as an adult; I found them very imaginative and entertaining.
