Being bored in a class means the subject is either too advanced or too easy. As the teacher has to look out for the least capable pupils it was usually that the smarter ones had their minds wandering and coming up with mischief.
Nope. They teach to the middle students; the upper students get bored and the lower students get lost. I’m not sure of the truth of it, but I read a long time ago, that up to 95% of all high school drop-outs qualify for Mensa. And most of the teachers I know, say they spend more time on tests to qualify their school for monetary aid that never does any good, than actually teaching “readin’, writin’ and ’rithmatic”!
Way back in the antediluvian era (1950s) I spent a good deal of my time in school being bored. It actually got worse, the further we went: Kindergarten was fun and so was learning to read. But memorizing “flashcard arithmetic” was annoying and that sort of thing just got worse over time. Particularly when we got to the point of being tested on history. I never can remember my birthday, much less when something “important” happened.
I’m pretty sure I was reading Bill Bryson’s latest, “The Body: A Guide for Occupants” when I drew this one. Highly recommended, like all his books. Maybe a little more highly recommended than his recent releases, but less so than “The Life and Times of the Thunderbolt Kid,” though, to be fair, very few books are ever going to top that one.
I am too much of an autodidact and when things didn’t interest me I did poorly with. And with math it was like a barrier goes up. My mind refused to retain much an was damn hard—-harder for me than most to accomplish. Easy math was very hard to me. I know intellectually of its importance. Doesn’t help when I am inadequate to the task for it.

Keep both feet on the ground. If it still, goes tingly, see a Dr. to make sure you are not pinching a nerve.

Remember, the mind can only absorb what the seat can endure.
