We always keep something absorbent in the car … and a cheap washable hallway-sized rug (narrow, but long) fits nicely across the back seat to protect it from muddy paws. I think in this case, the car’s upholstery will just have to suffer.
Moved to a different house 15 months ago. It has a pool. One of our dogs loves the pool, and visits it regularly. At first I got upset about the seemingly endless sequence of dog, water, wet dog, dirt, mud, pool, dirty pool, clean the pool, repeat. But after a bit the chance to hose down the dog and towel him dry, while holding him close and tell him that I loved him as he licked my ear took the sting out of the experience. If you love your dog, you figure it out, and you master what it takes to handle it easily.

You have to get Fred home somehow. So you need to think of something.

We always kept blankets in the boot (trunk) of the car for the dogs, but then, this is Scotland :D

Already have a blanket on the passenger seat when I take the dog out in the car. This would not be an issue for me :-)

What’s more important – Fred or the car? I think we all know the answer to that one!

And does Dear have a better idea?

Give us a good shake Fred then hop in.

The “Dears” must have suffered a lapse in their planning for the event. Every dog person anticipates this situation.

How come Fred doesn’t have a rain coat and doggie boots?
assrdood almost 5 years ago
Yes! You certainly can put Fred in the car like that!

They had the foresight to bring their rain gear so hopefully they brought warm snuggles for you. I am sure they did. They love you.
